I had the opportunity to design the 70th anniversary yearbook for a company, specialized in building and refurbishing railway overhead lines.
The book contains three main sections: Greetings, Portraits and History. My goal was to create a simple, modern layout, which can showcase the amazing photos of the past and the present in chronological order. Thankfully the past 70 years were documented pretty well and in high quality by the company, therefore I could not resist the temptation to feature a couple of images on a double spread.
In contrast with the detailed grainy photos, the large gesture like numbers and diagonal lines serve as additional visual elements to ease up the strict layout. On some strategic pages I changed the page numbering to a tiny arrow, featuring the spreads’ actual date to simplify browsing. The two main colors are based on the company's visual identity.
This book is especially interesting, because a lot of the photos were taken by actual construction workers on the job.
