Concept

Our concept is ‘ Nippon Bunka-teki Aikon’ meaning Japanese cultural icon.

The use of cultural characters and cultural image for our design.

Objective

We want for the users to immediately recognize Japan from our design,for easy recognition from all generation, either the old and the young.

Design

Unity

The Samurai is the character we chose for Unity because, according to the history of japan, Japan was united by three Samurais, and without these three samurais, japan maybe a different country than we know today. Samurai also has been the staples of Japanese culture to the outside world, as samurai is one of the first image that comes to mind when thinking of Japan

Strength

The character we chose for Strength is the Geisha, as the process of becoming and maintaining to be a Geisha is hard, because they need to maintain beauty, elegant and grace doing everything all the time. Also they need to learn new skills to become a full fledge geisha, such as musical instrument, bartending, speaking softly and many more. The Geisha is also one of the cultures that maintained until now, originates 600s, through world war 2 and now.

Movement

We chose Ninja or Shinobi to represent Movement as the main characteristic of a ninja is movement, speed and stealth. The ninja is a popular folklore story, and due to entertainment media, has made the ninja a popular character in the modern society.

Waves

The Wave is an inspiration from ‘The Great Waves Off Kangawa’ – Hokusai 1832. Since our concept is Japanese Cultural Icon, this is one of the most popular artwork from Japan and being imitated by some artist in Europe.
