This is my Vogue project.
In this project I am investigating Vogue Italia's latest edition where they illustrated their pictures instead of photographing them, they did this because the fashion industry has a big impact on climate change because of all the waste clothes and the clothing industry is responsible for 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. To start I researched Vogue and some of the illustrators they chose and then I looked on Pinterest for some inspiration. Below are some illustration samples I created using watercolour paints, acrylic paint, acrylic pens, alcohol markers, ink, tinfoil and fluffy material. There is no final illustration as this project is still ongoing.

To start I investigated Vogue and David Salle, as I really like his work and his fluid style; I like how expressive he is with his lines and how there isn’t lot of detail. Salle only uses a few tones yet the whole piece is pulled together so effortlessly. I created a sample in his style to understand how he worked and the techniques he uses. Then I explored Ink marbling as I came across something similar on Pinterest and thought it would make a unique surface pattern or background. I’ve created lots of Ink marbling samples and even used it as backgrounds on some of my samples. I have then continued to create various illustrations in different styles and for these I have used a mixture of alcohol markers, watercolour paints, pen, different 3D materials, acrylic paint and Posca Pens. I haven't yet finished my exploration stage and intend to create more digital samples using photoshop as well as traditional samples until I find something I really like.
