Established in 2009-2010 by Bettina John (Berlin), Jaime Leme (São Paulo), and Sebastien Freuler (Geneva), AIRimages was an art collective based in London. Their work was characterized by a playful combination of diverse approaches to image construction, synthesized through various artistic forms. AIRimages' projects incorporated photography, video, interactive media, fashion, and performance that explored the possibilities of image creation beyond traditional notions of aesthetic production.
In often impromptu and unexpected situations, the collective challenged conventional image-making modes, seeking to understand image communication and discover new ways of expression. Through this process, the artists deconstructed and rearranged preconceived aesthetic values, analyzing different ways of producing an image or a piece of art.

Fondé en 2009-2010 par Bettina John (Berlin), Jaime Leme (São Paulo) et Sebastien Freuler (Genève), AIRimages était un collectif artistique basé à Londres. Leur travail se caractérisait par une combinaison ludique de différentes approches de la construction d'images, synthétisées à travers diverses formes artistiques. Les projets d'AIRimages incorporaient la photographie, la vidéo, les médias interactifs, la mode et la performance, explorant les possibilités de création d'images au-delà des notions traditionnelles de production esthétique.
Dans des situations souvent improvisées et inattendues, le collectif remettait en question les modes conventionnels de création d'images, cherchant à comprendre la communication visuelle et à découvrir de nouvelles formes d'expression. À travers ce processus, les artistes déconstruisaient et réarrangeaient les valeurs esthétiques préconçues, analysant différentes manières de produire une image ou une œuvre d'art.

The search into this process of visual creation is key to their work. In this process-led activity they try to get closer to the grain of photography and show the world beyond the frame. Their photographs show not only the final result of a photo-shoot session but also the interaction between participants or models and the photographer, an event that happened beyond the intention laid-out beforehand, a real, unplanned happening. In that sense, the interest is not necessarily in the photograph, but in what is happening beyond the frame during the process of taking the picture.To find out more about this project please visit:

La recherche dans ce processus de création visuelle est essentielle à leur travail. Dans cette activité guidée par le processus, ils essaient de se rapprocher du grain de la photographie et de montrer le monde au-delà du cadre. Leurs photographies montrent non seulement le résultat final d'une séance de prise de vue, mais aussi l'interaction entre les participants ou les modèles et le photographe, un événement qui s'est produit au-delà de l'intention établie à l'avance, un véritable événement imprévu. En ce sens, l'intérêt n'est pas nécessairement dans la photographie, mais dans ce qui se passe au-delà du cadre pendant le processus de prise de vue.
