The Kelpies Prize for Illustration
Kelpies asked for five illustrations for a children’s book about Scotland’s Cultural stories, seeing a contemporary outlook of the stories and festivals that bring Scotland TOGETHER. This brief gave me the chance to explore festivals, events and different traditions of Scotland which are important to know coming from Scotland and wanting to stay here for the future. It was an opportunity for me to take on a full illustration project which focus on children and educating as I believe that’s when I am most motivated in my creative practice.

Edinburgh being a favourite place of mine to visit in Scotland, it is exciting for me to visualise various surroundings and hot stops that can excite children and their families. This gives them the opportunity to be educated in Edinburgh Cultural Stories and give them a destination where they can see festivals and events for themselves.

The stories I decided to focus on are:
Hogmanay Street Party
The Torchlight Processions
Loony Dook
The Fringe
The Mysterious Underworld of Edinburgh
