Meet the Pacific Garbage Patch Babies

MEET THE PACIFIC GARBAGE PATCH BABIES

These upcycled sculptures were made over the course of a year between Earth Day 2023 and Earth Day 2024. Each one was composed of hundreds of pieces of 1-use plastics, candy wrappers, chip bags, and other garbage used by Alyn's family of 4. They were cut into strips and woven into the form of sea creatures.
WATCH OUT FOR HAZARD THE JELLYFISH!

This critter was made from dozens of individual pieces of one-use plastics including bread bags, cereal bags, snack food packaging, etc. 32 inches long and about 14 inches at its longest point.
This crafty mini-baby was produced as part of a craft-night fundraiser for the Watershed Alliance of Southwest Washington.
MEET NORBERT
Norbert the Narwhal has a 17 inch horn, a 55 inch body, and is about 14 inches wide. He was made from hundreds of individual pieces of one-use plastics and foam including styrofoam packaging, bottle caps, bread bags, cereal bags, and candy wrappers.

Scrappy the Octopus is 40 inches in total length and was made from hundreds of individual pieces of one-use plastics including orange netting, bottle caps, ripped towels, shoe tongues, cereal bags, and much more!
BRUISER THE STINGRAY
This fellow was made from coat hangers, dry cleaning bags and cereal bags along with thrift store holiday lights and old fishing line.
PATCHY THE SEA TURTLE
Patchy is 35 inches from note to tail and approximately 22 inches at her widest point. She was made from hundreds of individual pieces of one-use plastics and old fabrics including strained and torn baby clothes, cellophane, dog food bags, snack food bags, etc.
