At Avanti, I would be handed a sketch of a potential card, an example of which is above (by Key Wilde). My responsibility was to recreate the sketch in a rough Photoshop comp by gathering different elements from stock sites, then combining them for a first draft. If the Photoshop comp passed muster, it would go on to the next level and a photographer would be hired for an actual shoot.
