Esto no es desfile
El 25 de Noviembre de 2009, Día Internacional Contra la Violencia a la Mujer, bajaron protestando desde la ciudad del Alto, en las afueras de La Paz, Bolivia, cientos de mujeres, hombres y niños.
Su meta era decir basta no solo contra la violencia hacia la mujer, sinó también hacia los niños. Basta también de violaciones que quedan impunes. Bastade jueces corruptos y fiscales alcahuetes.
Al grito de "Esto no es desfile, es marcha de protesta" se hicieron oir por las callejuelas de la ciudad ante la mirada orgullosa de algunos que felicitaban y, otros tantos que, sorprendidos, abucheaban.
El caso de Bolivia es paradójico. Teniendo las tasas más altas de violencia domestica, posee también los movimientos feministas mas fuertes y organizados.
Sin embargo, el machismo que se practica en Bolivia es de un tipo particular. Machismo de puertas adentro, donde el hombre abusa de su esposa creyendo que pertenece al ámbito de la vida privada, fuera de la casa la mujer realiza a la par que el hombre los trabajos más duros. En la calle, en el día a día, ninguna mujer se deja pisotear por un hombre.
Al ir caminando, al entregar en mano un volante llamando a levantarse contra los golpes, se ve enlos ojos de quien recibe el panfleto, entre rabia e inocencia, un gesto de apoyo, una mirada cómplice, la afirmación de quien defiende su dignidad.

This is not a Parade
On November25th 2009, International Day Against Violence to Women, from the "El Alto" city, at the outskirts of La Paz, Bolivia, hundreds of women, men and children came down protesting. Their goal was to say Enough! not just against the violence towards women,but to children. Enough also of rapes that go unpunished. Enough of corrupts judges and prosecutors.
By the cries of "This is not a parade, is a protest march" they made themselves heard through the streets in front of the proud look of some who congratulate them, and some other that, astonished, booed.
Bolivia´s case is a big paradox, having the biggest rates of domestic violence, has also one of the more organized feminist movements.
However, the sexism that Bolivia suffer is very particular. Inside-door opression, where the men abuse of his wife believing that is an act that belong to the private life, outside the house the women made the hardest jobs next to the men. In the street, no women let herself be abused by a man.
Walking, giving flyers calling to stand up against the punches, you can see in the eyesof that who receive the panflet, between rage and innocence, a gest of support, an accomplice look, the affirmation of whom defends her dignity.
