Arequipa is one of my favourite places on our little planet. And Convento de Santa Catalina is a place very dear to my heart. It was such a great location to sit and work remotely. This was one of the first paper cuts in the series “Travel. Shoot. Cut.” that I did. Because I was very young at the time when I lived here, I did not have a lot of money for film, and my only camera was a 1979 Polaroid, so all my imagery from those days are in square format and limited to less than 50. I spent a lot of time sketching to document my travels, and really enjoyed playing with positive and negative space, which is now becoming an approach I use in my paper cuts.
