Short movie "Privileg der Stille"

The short movie "Privileg der Stille" was produced In the framework of an exhibition which treated the subject of poverty (shown in the Landesmuseum Trier, 2011). The different participants were free to choose the subject in different contextes like financial poverty, social or emotional poverty. What lead me to shoot this movie, was my interest in people like Pater Wolfgang Götz who choosed to live his life as an hermit. I visited him in Vallendar near Koblenz and spent four days to shoot the movie. I followed him with the camera as he prayed, during his daily routine in his hermit´s cell and while meeting up for religious welfare. The short movie consists of voice-over pieces from the hermit talking about his daily life, lonelyness that can lead to freedom and his faith. one focus lays on the absence of light, cause the shooting was in winter and the hermit had no electricity in his cell, which caused me some technical problems but gives the movie a great atmosphere.
